Desk Plants

Many of us are looking for ways to brighten our dull office spaces whether they’re corporate or home offices. We might dabble in a little interior design or add some knick knacks to call a space our own, but many, especially during the pandemic, have turned to something a little more green.

Lawrence Hanley, owner and founder of Desk Plants in Austin, Texas, wanted to find a way to convince people to go green in the workplace.

“If you go to any corporate office, it’s kind of a bunch of grays and whites, a little sterile, kind of artificial and I wanted to bring back a connection to nature…”

He saw the need not only to bring life to drab offices but also to bring in that connection to plant life that humans desperately need.

“It’s a natural state for us to want to be out in nature as human beings…”

While Lawrence acknowledges that the best way to reconnect with nature is by spending time outdoors, he also recognizes that not everyone has that opportunity.

“To me, connection with nature with plants indoors, it doesn’t do the full trick but it’s a very good substitute if you have to be indoors…”

The team at Desk Plants strives to not only provide a little more green to their customers’ lives but also educate them on plants that will work for their lifestyle.

Lawrence believes there’s a right plant for every space and every person. What keeps him moving forward is the hope these plants are bringing to people and he’s happy to be a part of the process.

“Plants have created for a lot of people a little bit more purpose…”
