Friðheimar

Everyone has a specific calling in their life, something that they just have to do. For Knútur Rafn Ármann and his wife Helena, that calling was tomatoes and horses.

“…that was supposed to be our little side business, but now our little side business is getting two times bigger than our main business.”

Friðheimar was the combination of two passions, horses and horticulture. It took time and a lot of effort, but now the greenhouse is up and running and the equestrian center draws in tourists from around the world.

“It feels warm for a farmer to feel that how many people are interested to come to the farm and see what we are doing.”

Because Friðheimar draws so many tourists, Knútur and his employees aim to run their facilities in a sustainable and environmentally-responsible way. They hope to have a positive influence on the tourism industry.

“It shows opportunity to twist together tourism and agriculture.”
