Life Under the Oaks Lavender Farm

Lavender fields are places of peace and tranquility, but you might be surprised that such a lush place can be found in the desert of Arizona.

In Oracle, Life Under the Oaks Lavender Farm, run by Carolyn Blair and her family, is providing pollinators a place of respite and also giving people something to talk about.

“We thought it would do well here. It seemed like it was the perfect climate and decided to give it a try.”

Often as wives and mothers we have to make sacrifices for our families and Carolyn finally felt it was time to do something that was just hers.

“I feel like the lavender farm saved me in a lot of ways…I had always supported my husband’s career…I was at the point where it was time to do what I wanted to do.”

Lavender growing didn’t totally come out of nowhere for her. She credits her grandmother as the one who initially got her interested in gardening and lavender has been important to her as a medicinal resource and as an art inspiration. Everything really came together for her in her dream endeavor.

“I feel like I’m doing what I’m supposed to be doing.”

What matters the most to Carolyn is the joy that the lavender farm brings, not only to herself but to everyone who comes to visit. They have plans to open up a second location that is primarily focused on educating the public on the different varieties of lavender and its uses.

“I think what I love most about the lavender farm is just coming out and being in the field in the quiet, listening to nature, hearing the bees, the butterflies, and sharing it with people.”
