FIELDTRIP: Red Wing Park

Cherry blossoms are one of the most beloved trees throughout the world, with many places dedicating annual festivals for their bloom. Though most people would think that they need to travel to Japan to attend one of these festivals, there’s actually a great opportunity for Virginia natives to enjoy a little slice of this tradition.

If you’re in the Virginia Beach area in the spring, you don’t want to miss the opportunity to visit Red Wing Park’s Miyazaki Japanese Garden to see the beautiful pink of the blooming cherry blossoms. Red Wing Park has plenty of things to offer year-round too with a variety of paths and picnic areas to stroll through.

Red Wing Park is open daily from sunrise to sunset.

While visiting Virginia Beach to see Red Wing Park and the Miyazaki Japanese Garden, you can drive north along the oceanfront to find Buff’s Garden, a little garden area with a view of the ocean, as well.
