Three More Assumptions
Plants speak for themselves.
The conversation is online.
The internet is not the answer.
Plants speak for themselves.
The Lorax said, "I speak for the trees." But he was wrong. He only imagined he was speaking for the trees. It is a common conceit. We freely project our own thoughts onto everything around us. Cats, dogs, friends, spouses, children, coworkers, the guy in traffic who cuts you off. The bird chirping happily above your head as you sit on a park bench. It must be happy. It sounds happy. But, we must realize, our projections are nonsense. We imagine we know what a plant, a tree, a flower or a weed is thinking, feeling, desiring. We know nothing.
