Portraits: Saxon Holt, Garden Photographer

Every photographer is different in the way they capture a scene and in their own perspective of what speaks to them.

For California-based photographer Saxon Holt, his inspiration is plants.

“I really think beauty is where my impact wants to be. I love the beauty of plants.”

Saxon’s initial experience with photography was in a commercial setting until he discovered the need for good gardening photography. A gardener himself, he brings a more personal approach to his photography as he connects with the plants.

He’s found that gardens present a much more appealing subject than anything else he could be photographing.

“I’d much rather promote something sustainable like gardening…”

Saxon’s beautiful photographs have been featured in numerous publications and he has his own published books where he shares the beauty of American meadows, grasses, succulents, and roses among other things.

The important thing for Saxon as he captures the beauty and joy of plants is being able to share his own perspective. He’s telling his own story through each photograph.
