Historic Garden Week in Virginia 2018: Northern Neck Tour

Every spring brings thousands of garden and restoration enthusiasts to their nearest tour during Virginia Historic Garden Week. This special event brings inspiration to tour attendees and also provides funds to the individual hosting garden clubs for future projects.

2018 Northern Neck Co-Chairmen Sue Farmar and Betsy Terhune were both excited as the day of the tour came. It was a drizzly Wednesday, but spirits were high for them and for tour attendees.

What was truly special about this particular tour was the amount of beautiful historic buildings like Menokin, Sabine Hall, Grove Mount, and Mount Airy.

Sue said this was the first time ever that all of these historic properties were on the tour at the same time.

Historic preservation is the foundation of the garden club so being able to showcase the amount of work and dedication that has gone into these properties was an immense accomplishment.

Virginia Historic Garden Week is an annual event. Visit the website to find a tour near you and remember that proceeds go right back into making these historic homes and gardens beautiful.
