Bruno Militelli: Macro Photography
There are hidden details in everyday objects that we have no way of seeing without taking a closer look.
Through his lens, Fine Art Photographer Bruno Militelli unlocks the secrets found in nature.
Bruno describes himself as a contemporary visual artist. His macro photography creates vast worlds from tiny details in leaves, flowers, water, and other objects.
“Abstraction is my strongest skill. I want to take the viewer to a different place so he doesn’t recognize what he is seeing initially.”
What began as an idle curiosity has become part of the São Paulo-based artist’s identity.
“Over time I began to register plants differently, with my identity as well as with my vision that is really exploring the patterns, the forms.”
A great deal of work goes into the images Bruno creates. He has to find the right amount of light to use in order to get the right image, but the end result is surprising and leaves the viewer wondering whether they’re looking at a photograph or a composite.
“You really explore the visual aspect when composing a photo…what I am trying to create in the composition to show the unique beauty and perfection, it’s really too perfect, it’s kind of shocking.”
Ultimately, Bruno hopes that people experience something new and exciting from his work. He wants to show that there are extraordinary things lurking in the mundane.
“So, my job is that I like to show people a perspective on the beauty of common things.”
