Botanical Spells
Artistic inspiration can be found in the most unlikely of places. After going through health struggles that lead her to discovering herbalism, Violet discovered the process of bundle dyeing with plants through her holistic studies.
“I fell down the rabbit hole and just never came out. It's beautiful now to see how my intention of studying herbalism fell into an artistic outlet.”
Violet began her business Botanical Spells, where she creates various garments and dyes them using plants she’s collected. One of the interesting things about working this way is that it creates a unique piece every time.
“I love new horizons and new things. You always get a different result, and sometimes it's not as good as the result you got before. But I've learned with the plants, you normally get something really beautiful and different and unexpected.”
One of Violet’s favorite projects to do is bundle dyeing using people’s bridal flowers. Being able to capture such a lifechanging moment for people in something they can keep and wear forever is a special way to connect people and plants.
“I love flowers because also because they bloom through the bad weather and through the hard times. And I think it's a really great metaphor for people.”
