It’s amazing how easy it is to go from buying one plant to filling your home wall to wall with greenery. Although Mackenzie Kuntz never intended to create her own urban jungle, her interior design job led her to taking in extra plants.

“I ended up bringing them home, and, you know, as I was figuring things out, more and more plants came to my house, and then one by one, it just turned into this.”

Mackenzie grew up with plants in her home, thanks to her mother’s love of them. However, it didn’t click until later that they brought happiness into the household.

Her own love for plants grew during the pandemic as a result of not being able to travel, offering her a therapeutic vacation right in her own home.

“I was able to bring that environment that I seek when I travel into my own home. So it actually helps me not feel like I want to pack up my bags and go. I feel like I can be here in this space and enjoy it.”

Taking care of her plants got Mackenzie through tough life changes, helping remind her that the care she was giving them needed to be applied to herself as well.

“Like if I'm giving the plant some water, like, okay, I should probably have some water too, you know? I'm giving them sunlight all day. Maybe I should go outside and feel some sun on my face.”
