Wim Uilenbroek: Mediterranean Sea Garden

“What my eyes see, my hands do. That is the power in my life.”

Wim Uilenbroek had always told his wife that he would go all out on a garden when they had the land. Now, he’s built a true oasis.

The Mediterranean Sea Garden is a space that perfectly captures an intersection of art, architecture, and gardening. Wim creates what he calls entertainment architecture, and every structure that stands in the garden is created with the surrounding plants in mind.

“That's the fun part, creating structures with integrated colors, which is also reflected in the greenery in the garden.”

These gardens are a labor of love, and Wim is endlessly proud of what he’s created. He’s crafted a special family heirloom, something that will outlast him for generations to come.

“In one lifetime you build something like that and now you are old…I get out of bed, I go for a little walk in the garden…and then I look around and think, that will still be there in a hundred years.”
