Pam Weinrieb: Family Garden

The garden has always been a special place for Pam Weinrieb’s family. From her childhood when she helped her parents in their vegetable garden, to her own backyard where her son had his wedding, Pam has found that it is a perfect space for people to gather and bond.

Pam works hard to make every inch of her garden feel important. While she says she overdoes it, seeking to fill every empty space she can, there’s no doubt that she puts so much care into the environment.

“Once it starts, you just keep going until everything is filled up.”

Many corners of Pam's garden hold sentimental value because of the memories she’s planted there. There’s a gingko tree that they planted because of one of her son’s school projects that has grown up with him over the decades, and a painted rock that reads her oldest grandchild’s name.

This inspired Pam to invite other people to contribute too, letting people paint rocks to add to the garden. The Garden Walk allowed Pam to spread the love that her family has for her garden to a bigger community.

“I like to include a lot of people. I want this to be the kind of thing that they will have as good as memory of me and my family growing up as I did with my mother.”
