Having a green tree in your home during the Christmas season might not seem like such a big deal, but for some it’s a luxury they can’t afford.
Tree seller Curtis Faulkes wants to change that for some of the people in his neighborhood.
A 17-year-old Curtis came to the local tree lot to get a tree for his sister and left with a job. For the past forty years he has sold Christmas trees out of this small lot in Philadelphia.
Now he runs the business with his sons, teaching them the old ways of doing things. Most importantly, he teaches them to give back.
“No matter much it costs me at the end, I make sure everybody else has trees that didn’t have one around this neighborhood.”
If you’re in the Philadelphia area around Christmas, be sure to stop to see Curtis at the lot. It’s located at 50th and Baltimore.
