Plant Daddy Podcast
Collecting houseplants has had a huge resurgence over the past few years due, in part, to social media. Many houseplant collectors have started sharing their own experiences with others online by video and by podcast.
Friends and plant enthusiasts Stephen Ehlers and Matthew Jackson share their plant interest and experiences with the public through their popular podcast titled Plant Daddy Podcast. Based out of Seattle, Washington, the two share a passion for all things plants.
The podcast has a range of topics from highlighting specific plants to sharing plant project ideas and just chatting with guests. Their goal is to inform people who are already plant collectors, while also hoping to inspire anyone who hasn’t realized their love for plants yet.
Stephen says he and Matthew began the podcast after having their own discussions about plant-related things.
“We started having long, excited conversations about plants and we’re like, ‘hey, why don’t we record this?’ ”
What makes Plant Daddy Podcast stand out among the other garden and plant podcasts is the focus, according to Matthew.
“Something that I thought was missing was the idea of plants but through more of the social side.”
Being able to share plant experiences and interesting things they’ve found is an integral part of plant parenthood. That’s the social aspect that they’re trying to capture with these conversations.
“I’ve learned about so many plants just through that exact mode of enthusiasts within the hobby sharing what they’re doing.”
Both Stephen and Matthew want to share their own knowledge with anyone who wants to listen. They stress that you don’t have to be an expert to have an interest in plants.
