Sonoran Rosie: Herbals & Desert Foraging
The natural world provides many different benefits for the well-being of humans and animals. The more we experiment and research, the more we find.
Tucson herbalist Rosie Crocker creates her herbal remedies and other products from plants she collects from the desert she calls home. Her herbal shop is much like the desert itself, varied and unique.
“I use a variety of different desert plants that I sustainably forage for.”
She only takes what she needs and even grows many of the plants herself.
Besides the information she’s gleaned from others through online research and lessons from a local herbalist, Rosie does a lot of her own experimenting. Her creations are a long process sometimes, but because she takes her time she’s able to become more acquainted with the plants.
“I care about the plants that I work with and so I’ve slowly built up long-term relationships…with a lot of the plants that I use.”
Rosie hopes that people will experience what she has through herbals. It’s about connecting to nature on a deeper level.
