Patagonia Flower Farm

Founder and owner of Patagonia Flower Farm, Aishah Lurry, has been growing plants through the farm in Patagonia, Arizona since 2015. Her love of gardening began at a young age when she was growing up in Boston.

“We had this amazing courtyard where we had a playground, a waterfall, and garden areas. And I remember my mom giving me some seeds...And weeks later, I had a snack, right there next to where I was playing. And I really think that that had ignited my love of growing things.”

Having been used to living in the city and being able to find flowers in stores easily, moving to Patagonia made Aishah realize that this area was missing that accessibility.

“My husband and I moved to Patagonia, and there are no big supermarkets here where you can get flowers. In this town that we live in, there are a lot of artists, a lot of women, and I knew that they must be hungry for flowers as well.”

Although she was used to growing food, this realization helped inspire Aishah to trade in her vegetable garden for a flower garden.

“There’s something about flowers...We use flowers to say, ‘I love you.’ We use flowers to say, ‘Goodbye.’ We use flowers to say so many things...What they've taught me is the circle of life and appreciating the circle of life.”

Patagonia Flower Farm has grown to hold almost 80 different varieties of flowers. Aishah grows flowers solely for the purpose of being shown off in a bouquet because she wants nothing more than to share the beauty that she experiences on the farm every day.

“I feel like flowers right now, with all that's going on in the world, is the easiest and most simple way of treating yourself with self-care. And I have been jokingly saying that growing flowers and selling flowers, I'm in the self-care business.”
