Ganjika

Curating a green space in your living space can help deepen our connection with nature. Ganjika, located in Rome, Italy, is a nursery and garden store that helps people do just that. Owner Laura Russo has always been surrounded by plants, ever since she was a child.

“Plants have always been part of my life and are a crucial element of my childhood memories, memories of summer spent in the fields in the countryside with my grandmother.”

Laura’s childhood memories gave her a lifelong love for plants, which her life has become centered around.

“The first thing I do in the morning is observe my plants. It fills me with joy to see new blossoms.”

Her passion is not contained only to the plants that she grows herself, but to any that she comes across.

“Even seeing wild plants that grow through walls and pavements sometimes with their heart shaped leaves, sprouting from concrete, they appear so graceful yet so strong.”

Caring for nature is vital, in Laura’s eyes, and she wants to encourage others to take the time to build that connection.

“I believe that the image that a green space offers stays with us, nature’s colors are imprinted in our memory and remembering them creates an innate empathy towards nature. Looking after nature is vital to acknowledge how we treat the fantastic world we live in, as well as letting it thrive on its own.”
