Hidden Gem Farm
Giving flowers to someone going through a hard time is a small but meaningful way to show that you’re thinking of them, while also bringing a little spark of joy and color into their life. When Spenser Bailey lost her husband Josh to lymphoma four years ago, and what stuck with her most was all of the flowers that people brought her.
“I kind of wanted always to have fresh flowers in the house because they just brought a light that was no longer in our home. And they just made me smile when nothing else would.”
When she moved out to Chesapeake with her current husband, Mike, she decided that she wanted to start a farm and named it Hidden Gem Farm after her daughter, Gemma, who also has developed a love for gardening.
“She really likes the flowers. She doesn't understand why she can't pick all of them, but she makes sure that I know which ones are the prettiest.”
Through all the highs and lows, Spenser has stayed determined and pushed through, and she hopes that Gemma learns this from her.
“I hope to pass on to Gemma that if you work hard enough, you can do whatever your heart desires.”
