Growing Kindness

There is no better way to spread love than giving flowers. Deanna Kitchen took this idea to heart, and her small acts of kindness bloomed into an entire community.
“The flowers were just kind of the catalyst for being able to open doors to connections.”
Growing Kindness started out simple, with Deanna sharing the flowers she grew. It’s since evolved into creating a whole network of folks who pass along flowers and help make gardening accessible to everyone.
“We realized what was more empowering is to inspire people to do the thing that we were doing…and then to support them with some information on how to grow flowers if they'd never done that before.”
One of the most powerful things that Deanna has noticed about Growing Kindness is that the people who want to give to others are often going through hardships themselves. This selflessness perfectly emphasizes the core spirit of Deanna’s mission.
“In that and through that, they're looking for ways to give. Like, that's just an astounding thing to me that in their lack or in their challenge, they're looking to help and to give.”
