Mally Khorasantchi: Visual Artist

Art has always been a comfort for Mally Khorasantchi. Whenever she felt sad or alone, she’d find herself channeling her feelings into paintings.

“I put all my dreams and everything into my little garden pictures. They were always about my little sorrows.”

She is particularly captivated by the way that plants showcase the circle of life in such a short time. Seeing this cycle makes her feel strongly connected to plants.

“There is a nonstop recycling going on. It's coming up, it's going to bloom, and then it's dying, and then it comes up again. We have that, too, as human beings.”

Mally feels so connected to nature that when greenery in the area around her old studio was being torn down, she felt a physical pain. This led her to moving to her current home.

After the loss of her husband, being able to be surrounded by nature again brings her enormous comfort.

“My most beautiful part of the day is sitting in the evening and having my little glass of wine and relaxing under the trees, listening to the birds, seeing the plants around me, feeling the nature.”
