FIELDTRIP: Jardín Etnobiológico de Oaxaca

Not only is this a beautiful landscape for plant lovers, but it is a core piece of cultural history for the state.

Dating back to the 90s, the Ethnobotanical Garden of Oaxaca was created as a part of an initiative to preserve and showcase the unique biocultural heritage of the area and its local communities. Even though the garden was formally established fairly recently, parts of it date back to the 16th and 17th centuries.

All of the plants that make up the garden, even some that reach as much as a century old, were donated by Oaxacan communities.
