Friendship Plant Company
Sharing is caring, or so the old adage goes, and what better way to share than giving someone a little plant.
Evan and Heather Blackerby started Friendship Plant Company so they could build a community around giving.
“The goal here would be that people would become generous. We build a community of generosity.”
Utilizing their “dreamy green” truck, Evan and Heather share their collection of plants with people all around their North Carolina home.
The idea for the business sprouted, no pun intended, because of Evan’s own propagation skills. He’d put a little plant in some dirt until it grew and then he’d pinch off a bit to grow more to share with people. The idea of “give a friend a plant” was born.
Both Evan and Heather acknowledge they’re learning as they go and are okay with things not being perfect.
“Why not embrace the imperfection a little bit?”
They could have created a community around anything, but they chose plants because of how impactful they can be to people.
“We started to see that plants naturally build community because people think plants are beautiful and they offer joy and happiness to the world.”
