First Person: Nakia Maples

First Person: Nakia Maples

With our filmmakers limited ability to make films during cover-19, PlantPop is creating a series of First Person, or selfie style videos, to share stories about how plant people are adapting to social distancing and sheltering in place.

During the current pandemic Nakia Maples says, “My indoor garden has helped be keep a level head.” He is trying to help others find resolve with “positive posts about plants” on his Philly Plant Guy Facebook page. Even with his positive thoughts, we see a somber realization that “in the end all we have is ourselves and our plants.”

Nakia curates plant swaps and is an active member of the Philadelphia horticulture scene, but these activities came to halt; however, there is hope as this crisis passes! From this experience we can GROW as people, as a community, and as a nation.

For more information on Nakia follow his Facebook page the Philly Plant Guy.
