Lampade Ninfea

Lampade Ninfea, which translates to “water lily lamps” in English, is the creation of artist Ciro la Ferola and photographer and artist Ilaria Liguori.

Ciro didn’t spend his childhood surrounded by plants. In fact, he says that there were hardly any plants around him, so when he did see them it was a treat.

“As a kid, I was often mesmerized when I came across a beautiful plant or a flower because it was almost like witnessing a small miracle.”

The lamps are comprised of gorgeous arrangements of flowers and plants suspended in resin to create an artwork celebrating the natural world.

“What we are trying to allow with our creations is to stimulate our eyes and even our souls to notice beauty.”

These aren’t just lamps to put on a table and forget, these are works of art meant to entice the viewer to take a closer look at what might seem to be an ordinary plant within the lamp. From Ilaria’s perspective, every piece has a purpose.

“Maybe that’s why our compositions are so unusual because each little element is of great importance.

The overall hope for Ciro and Ilaria with Lampade Ninfea is to showcase the wonder in a plant that we maybe would have just passed by without noticing.

“I think flowers are a very explicit embodiment of beauty and elegance.”
