PlantyQueens
Best friends Lillie and Maya decided to take their mutual love of houseplants into a local business during the pandemic, and they never would have expected their plant shop to grow so much that they made connections with people across the country.
“We have a lot of people that live nationwide that we're really close friends with because of the plant world…And it's not just, ‘You're my customer, I'm going to treat you right.’ It's like “you're my family’ and it's so special.”
Both of them got their start as hobbyists and feel that it’s given them a lot of chances to learn tricks for themselves that they can then use to help their customers. They love that they get to be around plants all day and spread the joy of loving plants as well.
“The main thing is it’s something to care for other than yourself.”
Lillie and Maya love handpicking what goes into PlantyQueens, filling the shop with things from artists and other small businesses. Their personality shines through their work, and they wouldn’t have it any other way.
“PlantyQueens will always be Lillie and Maya, and Lillie and Maya will always be PlantyQueens. That's just how it kind of is. What you see in the shop is just really...us, our personality.”
