Erica Des Roches: Plant Design

Growing up in the Netherlands helped instill Erica Des Roches with a strong love for plants that she’s carried for her entire life. From her very first job working in a plant shop, she’s always thought there was something special about taking care of plants and sharing them with others. 

“When I think about plants, I think about the word ‘faith’, because when you give somebody a plant, you're giving them a living thing and you have faith that they will take care of this living thing.”

Moving from the Netherlands to Florida was a huge shock for Erica - she found herself in awe of what plant species would thrive naturally in her new home. 

“The plants that we try to grow in our house in the Netherlands that eventually always die because it's too cold, just grow in the wild here, everywhere.”

After leaving her job as a real estate broker, Erica packed up a camper with her pets and took a trip across the States, exploring all the beauty of the national parks. 

When she returned, she was renewed with an energy and excitement about plants that she wanted to share with others. 

“I want to go to them, and I want to bring them the plants, and I want to make them happy.”
