The beginning of Roberta’s career in landscaping took a turn when the industry was shifting, leaving her to find another route for her work. She started building terrariums for herself, and it grew into making them for friends as well. 

Roberta is resourceful with her creations - recycling old jars and even dumpster diving for more materials. She strives to make the terrariums their own little contained environment in design. 

“They have a mini world right there, so I try to make it as natural as possible.”

She’s also inspired by Japanese art, crafting kokedamas in addition to her terrariums. She enjoys the contrast between their crafting processes, and it’s made her appreciate both plants and art more. 

“Plants made me like art…to appreciate every leaf, every foliage, all different types. Nature is very artistic by itself.”
