Coastal Roots Greenery

Growing up in rural Long Island planted the seeds for Ashley Burnett’s love of nature, but what really kickstarted her love for growing was getting the opportunity to take care of a decrepit greenhouse in high school. 

Her career took many turns - going from working at a greenhouse at Disney World to becoming a police officer. When she had her first child, she wanted to make a major change. They ended up relocating, and Ashley got to rekindle her love for plants. 

“I was blown away by the availability and variety of plants.” 

By opening Coastal Roots Greenery - a mobile plant shop housed in a trailer - she’s been able to get more in touch with other folks who share her interests. It’s given her a way to keep up her own passions and share it with her children and community as well. 

“The plant community that I’ve met through starting Coastal Roots Greenery has been such a warm, friendly, weird, and nerdy community of people. And every one of them has that single passion of green and greenery.”
