Joana Betzner: Photographer & Filmmaker

The ability of art to transport both the creators and the viewers into new worlds is something truly special. Photographer and filmmaker Joana Betzner knows this well. Her journey through photography has allowed her to carve out a special space of her own.
“It makes me feel like I'm able to create a world that I want to see around me. And that has been so empowering.”
Influenced by exploring nature through her childhood in the mountains of Spain, Joana’s work centers around nature and womanhood.
“It's like my first memories as a child are just being like in the ground, looking at the plants, flowers, the insects, and contemplating everything around me.”
Joana integrates flowers into her photography in a unique way, projecting the plants on top of self-portraits. Working with flowers in this way helps her connect with nature, and she believes that connection is an essential part of existence.
“It just brings us back to a really deep and beautiful place, like almost like a remembering of something deeper…you just feel love. And when you feel love, you want to take care of what you love.”
A film by Joana Betzner.
