The Heirloom Yard: Flower Farm and Floral Design Studio

There are many people who truly live and breathe plants. Christie Walsh-Meyers had strong gardening roots, growing up with her mother being a master gardener. She starts every single day by thinking about her flower farm and the floral design that goes with it.

Even though her passion for flowers borders on obsession, she finds that running The Heirloom Yard keeps her family grounded.

“I would say it’s maybe a quasi-unhealthy relationship and obsession with flowers because I think about them all the time, and when I’m not here, I’m thinking about what needs to get done here.”

After leaving her job in retail operations, Christie found herself gravitating away from another right-brained job. Painting flowers became a bridge between her careers, helping her transition into a more creative path.

When she moved to Florida, she felt a bit lost as she tried to find her place. Turning her focus to plants not only helped her feel more oriented in her new location, but also gave her a bigger purpose in the local community.

“The thing that we hear the most...is that it’s magical. Coming to our farm feels very magical.”
