Sunny Blooms

When Sonia Cruz had her first son, she found herself looking for a hobby while she was a stay at home mom. With the extra time on her hands, she reminisced about the time she spent with her grandfather learning about the fruit trees he grew, and she realized she wanted to capture the joy of tending to plants again.

“So, I decided to go back out and try with plants. I killed the whole first batch, and it was a learning experience. But I feel like that's just also part of the journey.”

Starting Sunny Blooms Plant Shop was a big step for Sonia. It was a point in her life full of changes and exploring herself.

“At that moment, that was kind of an opening to me, being able to rediscover myself and just find a new hobby again after being a mother and all of the motherhood like struggles…”

Sonia’s biggest priority in life is being present and teaching her kids. The loss of her father at a young age made her realize how important it is to slow down and appreciate the little moments with your loved ones, and she thinks that plants reflect that philosophy perfectly.

“…that's what plants are like. You have to take the moment to acknowledge them and just spend time one on one with them.”
