Emma Make: Artist and Designer

No matter what medium Emma Make is creating in, her artwork comes back time and time again to capturing the beauty of plants.
Most artists start traditionally and then learn digital art, but Emma’s journey happened in reverse. She started with digital art and has been branching out into analog methods lately, but she still loves and appreciates both forms for the different things they bring to the table.
“It’s definitely more beautiful, more textured. Whereas the digital, I really like because it’s loose and freeing.”
Emma’s affinity for flowers stemmed from her grandmother, who hybridized species of fuschia - tropical flowers that she managed to grow in England.
Living in Portugal has inspired her as well - taking influences from the local art scene and beautiful countryside. Her style also has roots in her Mozambique background, giving it an abstract feel.
This fusion of inspiration fuels a passion that highlights the unique shapes and forms of flowers.
“It’s the two influences of my past that are present in my work today.”
